Suggestions as to how to alleviate world hunger often feature advocates of the biotech industry praising GMOs as a viable solution. However, a new publication by GRAIN, a well-established and highly-regarded non-profit advocacy group which supports farmers in their endeavors to obtain biodiverse and community-controlled food systems, argues that GMOs are not part of the solution, but rather part of the problem. The article debunks the widespread myths about the alleged benefits of GMOs and suggests that the myths persist because “the multinationals that profit from them have put so much effort into spreading them around.”
