Last week, the Seattle Times published an op-ed written by AW members Ashley Fent and Phil Bereano. In the piece, they argue that Gates Foundation should stop funding genetically modified crops in Africa. They cite threats that these crops pose to current conventional and organic farming, as well as to the autonomy of African producers and nations. The op-ed also mentions California’s Prop 37, designed to require mandatory labeling of foods containing geetically modified ingredients.
AGRA Watch held a phone bank this past Saturday to get out the vote on Prop 37, but unfortunately, it did not pass.
